Bluetooth 3.0 to be announced on April 21
The next generation of the Bluetooth wireless protocol, namely Bluetooth 3.0, will be announced by the Bluetooth SIG this month, on April 21.
Reportedly, Bluetooth 3.0 relies on Generic Alternate MAC/PHY (AMP), thus being capable of operating at Wi-Fi speeds.
This should allow users to transfer large video files, photo libraries or music collections in a matter of seconds, assuming they have two Bluetooth 3.0 compatible devices.
Bluetooth 3.0 will also come with a new feature called EPC (Enhanced Power Control), which should reduce the “occurrence of disconnects” that may appear following actions like putting a device in a pocket.
A list of chip manufacturers that support Bluetooth 3.0 will be unveiled on April 2.1
